通过阅读《上下五千年》使我了解了伟大的祖国具有非常悠久的历史，中华民族是一个有悠久、灿烂文化的民族。

读了这本书以后，我知道了从传说中的黄帝到现在，大约有四千多年的历史，通常叫做“上下五千年”。因为炎帝族和黄帝族原来是近亲，后来又融合在一起，所以我们也常常把自己称为炎黄子孙。我还了解到原始人一开始不知道利用火，东西都是生吃的，生吃植物果实还不算，就是打来的野兽，也是生吞活剥，连毛带血的吃，到后来才发明了用火。
